30 in Bolivia

This past Wednesday marked my 30th birthday. I can say without a doubt that I am ready to be 30! It feels like just the right age. That is a good thing because I'm sure there are years all of us dread. It was quite a celebration at school. During silent reading, my 8th graders brought me a HUGE chocolate cake. The frosting was pure liquid and just dripped off the top of the cake. Not 20 minutes after devouring that, my 7th graders brought me a strawberry cake. I thought I would be sick! I managed to wait to the end of class to cut into that badboy in hopes that the chocolate cake would digest a bit. (it didn't). I finished off my birthday with a bunch of teachers from work. It was a good day. I missed celebrating with Tracey as has become our tradition, so I look forward to our own belated birthday celebration in Argentina in December.

School is winding down for the semester. Only 4 weeks to go which is nothing considering we get this Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving. All the American teachers are having a big feast today since most of us will be traveling during our time off. I'm not eating any food today until I get to the house for dinner, there are going to be some good meals. It is raining here today so it actually feel like November back home, the only difference being that it is about 80 degrees out (cool for here).

I'll be heading off to a town called Concepcion next week. My friend Rebecca and I will be braving the Bolivian bus system, should be fun.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
